3 original Stewart Hartshorn's roller blinds with linen towel and lace boundary made at Glover, Fry & Carbon monoxide's Dry Item Store of Quebec city, on or concerning, 1901.
Fabric is light beige bed linen, 4 1/4 inches vast, 92 1/2 inches long with a lace perimeter of 51/2 inches vast. The boundary could possibly be thought about a variation of Devon lace and more precisely Honiton shoelace; it is mixed, included needlework, reduced items on equipment bobbin/net. The cut items are cotton, the main hand-needle job is finished with woollen thread and some white silk thread.
The bed linen fabric is held snug onto a stained wood spring roller with 3 basic metal clips.
"The 'spring rollers' are initial Stewart Hartshorn's. > ))These are 1 1/4 rollers, each with the company's sticker with newest licenses specified as: >)
). One of the rollers just as has a label "from Glover, Fry & Carbon monoxide's dry great shop", with Jules Baillargeon, inscribed as buyer - at the time, he was an importer of wine and spirits, residing in Ste Ursule, Quebec. John S Fry and William Dyer were the owners of Glover, Fry & Co. They were probably responsible for addition of fabric elements to the final product.
These roller blinds concerned me wrapped in brownish paper which has a label by" J E Livernois Limitée importateurs en Gros, Rue St Jean Quebec" having the exact same buyer name etched on it. This business could possibly have had the responsibility of delivering the thing to the buyer beyond Quebec city limitations.

The linen material on each roller has mild spots which I reckon would have originated from the brownish paper wrapping having at some point during storage space obtained moisture. These areas are noticeable when the fabric is placed versus a background, the textile is or else quite clean. The bobbin/net to the lace has some harm; one of the blind's lace had undergone repair work to the bobbin; among the blind's shoelace has a significant tear though it could be reset.
